Will mid 06 male be ready for fall 07?

LordDreyfus May 03, 2007 09:53 AM

I have a male that was born in July of 2006. He is over the 2ft mark now, but hasn't hit 3ft. Maybe 2.3-2.5 ft. He has not been pushed. I've read that 3ft males are capable of breeding. I know he could achieve the size, but will he be mature enough? What are the chances that this little male will be able to successfully mate this fall?

Attached is his picture.

Travis

P.S. The female I'd like to pair him up with is closing in on 7ft and about 15 lbs at the moment. The size difference makes me a little nervous.

I wouldn't push it though no matter what size he is he will either be ready or not.. And trying to early could get you a big litter of slugs.. No one wants that..

In my case I was actually relieved to get a litter of slugs. :D But I had issues arise during gestation, sooo, special case here.

My opinion is maturity over size all day long.

A 12 year old can knock up anything from 13-30 year old
Good choice ? Just because it can doesnt mean its "ready".
Want good healthy animals as a result of your breedings ? Snake breeding is a patience game, the more you try and cheat the odds the more hands you'll loose.
If your playing with morphs,Its all about the money anyway so go for it .....

How is breeding a young male going to result in unhealthy babies??? Its either slugs or babies. Not sure what the problem, other than being too young to be interested, would be.
