what kind of snake is this please?

My dogs found this snake in my backyard. It's bigger than any snake I want to mess with! It doesn't look like a gartner snake to me. Can anyone help id this? Found in SE Michigan.

I didn't know hognose snakes lived that far north! Its not dangerous. If you harrass it it will spread its hood like a cobra or play dead and start to smell like rotting meat. Probably won't bite but it will convince you that it will!

Eastern Hognosed Snake. Totally harmless, although they will put on quite a bluff if threatened.

Michigan has a pretty decent website that can help identify snakes.
