THEY'RE EVERWHERE!!!!

I have a new theory of what happened the Charlie's eye (which is getting better daily by the way). The other night i must have dropped a potato chip under the couch. WHile cleaning today i found it..... covered in ants. I followed the ants back to.... drum roll please.... Charlie's cage. I think they are living in the pothos plant in his cage. I took that plant out and really flooded it with water. if they have been there for a few weeks, Charlie might have gotten an any bite on the eye. Damn critters.

oooo - ants are NOT a good thing - but you know that Flooding your plant will not get rid of them all. I would get him a new plant, repot it with fresh, bagged potting soil (no perlite). I would remove him from his cage for a while and give it a good cleaning outside hosing it down. If you have a screen cage there are usually openings at the corners where the ants will get into and continue to live in the cage. I ended up caulking all the corners. Aquarium silicone is good but takes 24 hours to lose toxicity, so I found a plain white caulk that has no (low) odor and it worked great.

A few years ago I recall someone posting that lobster roaches got into those channels, bred and the cage was covered with them. He had a Hel* of a time getting rid of them!! Good Luck!
