Double hets

Kerby... May 03, 2007 07:24 PM

I am female heavy on these.

I bred (1.1) this year, they are '05's

They are double hets (Ghost & hypermelanistics)

So next year I will be breeding (1.5)

If they are het "ghost" then thats two genes correct?and if they are het hyper then thats the third.I guess I am really confused or the "term" ghost doesn't apply like all other double homozygous genes in all the other snakes.
I have also seen this in the san felipe rosy that they call ghost. Its just a hypo but they insist on calling it a ghost.
Anyway,I have seen and had some of the palomar "ghosts" but there is no way they are true ghosts.Just a term for there looks.

They are double hets as the "Ghost" cal kings are Palomars...or rather originally from a wild-caught Palomar. The Ghosts are no longer locale specific. I got my Ghost from Brian at B.H.B. Enterprises and said that the original Ghost was a Palomar...but he obviuously outbred it to other cal kings (albino, etc..).

And yes, the term "Ghost" is not genetically accurate no more than "Snow" is in cal kings either. I chose to keep the term "Ghost" because that is what they were advertised as from B.H.B. A single recessive gene.
