Shedding problem...

littlen May 04, 2007 05:52 AM

My cali king has been shedding every 4wks and until now has been very successful in his sheds. His eyes tend to glaze over then 2-3 days later he sheds. However, the last couple of times he has been really quiet for a week and he tends to take a lot longer once his eyes go blue. He seems to get really ill, not moving round much and generally feeling sorry for himself.

I know its not like him as he is usually still very active during sheds with only a couple of days when he's not. I just wondered whether it is normal for snakes to get so inactive and take so long. I would have thought his ability to shed would be consistent. Would be greatful for a bit of advice.

Thanks
Littlen

He's probably fine.
I wouldn't worry too much as long as he sheds complete and continues to eat after his sheds.

They shed more often when they are young, you may just be seeing the transition to juvenile status.
