How Many Sliders Fit in a 1,675 Gallons?

Accomplice May 04, 2007 06:21 AM

That is what I've calculated for the size of my current pond project. How many sliders would be the max number in that much water, 1 or less per 100 gallons? Right now, I'm leaning towards capping it at 10 or a maybe a dozen.

I would say 12 full grown adults would be the max. The other issue is that they might not all get along. Do you have isolation areas in case they fight? Or get sick? I would say females would be a safer bet than males, but they fight sometimes too. I am excited for you! I hope to build a really big enclosure someday too!

I'm going to have a mixture of species in there (FL Chicken, Rio Grande Cooter, Hyro Cooter, clown FL red belly/ sliders, FL red belly, nic. slider, and the map/ RES hybrid that I have now) so maybe they won't fight so much.
