Snake in the Garage

medussa Aug 14, 2003 04:23 PM

My collection is growing...in size and in numbers...and I have a few questions that I am sure you all can help with. If you can respond, please be as detailed as possible! I would really appreciate it!

Location:
Because of the number of snakes I have I have been thinking about moving them to an attached garage. This will be a shared garage with 1 automobile moving in and out daily. Was thinking of creating false walls, etc, but was concerned about temp changes and other exposures. Any comments on this thought? Any ideas how to put together something like this without major construction?( FYI...the auto does not "warm up" in the garage..we are on the west coast)

Thank You in Advance!

I would definately put up a wall between auto and snakes. It should also be insulated to help keep temperature changes down to a minimum. Might need some sort of exhaust fan too if auto fumes are going to be near the snakes. Its not that hard to put up a wall, if you need detailed instructions let me know.

I would be more concerned with stressing the snakes out every time you start the car. I'm assuming you still got a gas car like me and not an ecolectric one.

welllll havent gone all nature freak and bought an electric car....lol

but I wouldnt think the startup noise would pose that much of a problem.....i mean most people keep thier herps indoors where all halleluja breaks loose every second right?

...i mean i cant seem to see any real reason not to put them in the garage.....after handling temperature change issues and direct light issues. People put their cats and dogs in garage....with misc vapors....temp issues...and they have a heavier lung and emotional capacity than a herp........

sounds like i am talking myself in to it huh? lol Thanks a bunch for the reply....
