Deathly sick

Minigell May 04, 2007 08:37 PM

I have had my gecko for 6 year he is keep in a 20l tank inferred light, heatrock, shelter, water dish. He stopped eating for a long time and shut his eyes he got deathly under weight.. i nursed him back to health with putting yogurt on his nose and having him lick it off. He opened his eyes and ate for a while then started doing it again. I tryed and tryed to get him to eat he would only drink. I was going to bring him to the vet. Right before i did he cut his leg it is now very badly infected. It very swollen. I have him on antibiotces and i fulsh out the leg ( rear left). I have been feeding him Ensure like the vet told me he lickes it off the suringe( past 2 days) and all but one time he has vomited it put after an hour or more. This is extermely fursterating to see him like this... Now what is the question, he used to eat mealworms and crickts. But now his eyes are shut ( i belive from lack of vitimen E). He seems sick but still walks around with his eyes shut, and lays in the heat.... I need help ='[

first of all, why are you using a hot rock? they burn the lizards tummy. and yogurt probally wasn't the best thing to feed it, it has dairy in it and their bodies arn't made to digest that sort of stuff. treat the infection with neospirin or bedadine or something. i'm not a vet so i'm not 100% sure, but i think that should work. it helps to apply it with a q-tip. make a humid hut so he can drink whenever he wants. do u know how to make those?
