My redfoot fanned at me today! I couldn't believe it...he had been so shy since I got him in April.
Should I get him a mate someday?
Also, I wanted to know if they can feel when you touch their shells. I mean, are there subtle nerve endings/senses so they know when someone is petting their shells?
The reason I ask is because we put a leather-like harness or really a dog collar around his shell and attach a rope to it. That way he can wander around the yard. Of course we check on him often and he is brought in the evening. Besides, he always ends up in the same place...sleeping under the plants, hidden away. We put the collar fairly tight so there is no way of it slipping off...this is why I am concerned about the nerve endings/senses, if they do have them there.
