How about axanthic?
Got this girl and a het male from Don Shores... even better looking in person!

//Todd
I got mine (1.1) from Don Shores as well and will be breeding them next year.
I also have the hypos and albinos.
And yes, Todd is right, you can't capture how beautiful they are from a picture!

Maybe not. But those pictures are very nice!

Kerby and Todd,
Here is my axanthic splendida I got from Shores earlier this year from his second line of axanthics. You can somewhat see the bluish tint in the pic but it still is so hard to capture on camera.
Todd, is that the one you got from Shores the day I met you at that show in Feb.? She is awesome!!!!

Billy,
Yes- that's the one. Your's has an awesome sock-head!
She's looking awesome, but a pain in the butt eater... so far, will only take live!

All those "axanthics" you guys have are really great looking animals!........and I also noticed the cool looking "sock-head" on Billy's animal, that's a great little feature as well!

axanthic and are amazing looking in person!! I have a two pairs of hets (axanthic)from Don that will be going next season also.
I know of one person that is working with what he calls black and white splendida... The only history I have on them is that he's been line breeding to refine the high white and in the past couple of years he's finally got black and whites. I'll be getting a pair this year but have never seen them in person..
hope that helps.

I have heard you can find black and white splendida in the Hueco Mtns. northeast of El Paso, TX. I saw a pic of one once but never saw one in person. It looked really balck and white in the pic but not waxy like axanthics so I'm pretty sure it was just a normal with that coloration.
I live in New Mexico, the splendidas around me tend to be gloss blk and white, but if I drive 15-20 miles they take on more of a brown/yellow coloration. Got an awesome gloss blk/white. Gotta get it posted in my pic gallery
I'd like the see the photos - even better, I'd love to have a pair!

Please post some pics if you can!

I will by all means!
If I remember correctly, one of the two axanthic lines hails from New Mexico....

I heard that to, not sure what part of Nex Mex though?
I've caught quite a few splendida in the Huecos over the years (gasline road, 62/180 up top, several dirt roads, Hueco Tanks rd) and I have never seen an animal that wasn't yellow.
In fact, the nicest, most "perfect" splendidas I have ever found came from the Huecos, but they were perfect yellow and black snakes.
I did find one large male in the grasslands above the Huecos that was washed out yellowish white, but it was more ugly than a yellow and not as nice looking as an axanthic.

There are black and yellows, brown and yellows and balck and whites, I have caught and have all 3, what I want to see is brown and white! The black and white looks cream in these pics, and may fade out later, but the whites are sharp and clean. I can see the blue in the axanths, this guy is phenom!

they are there..............

A number of years back I bought a pair of F1's from wild collected parents out of Crane Co. Texas, that wild pair were both black and white snakes. The adults were collected within .2 miles of each other, so I would imagine that population is predominantly black and white, which is exactly why I bought the F1 pair. My son still has the male and he is a jet black and white adult. The F1's as hatchlings were sort of an "espresso and cream" color that changed to the nice black and white by about the yearling stage.

Wow! Those axanthics are awesome looking! I'm liking them as much as I like the regulars. I would love to see a true Balck & white from one of the locales mentioned.
