Is the Lucy still the Pinnicle for Balls

Emberball May 06, 2007 12:48 AM

I think a few years ago, the Lucy was the Pinnicle (or Pinnical?) for Ball breeders. Is it still? It seems like the first Lucy was produced, and almost overnight, three or four new ways were found to produce them. Do people still like the Lucy, or have they reached "boring white snake" status? I personally like the clean look, but wonder if they are a dead end as far as a Super, or if people really still like them and think a Pastel Lucy will be cool, or ...?

What about the Ivory, I honestly like the look, and once that Ben Siegel showed pics of one time was amazing? If you had to put a number 1 and number 2 in front of the Lucy and the Ivory, and rank them, what would you rank them. I guess it could be 1,2 and three, if you count the Blue and Black Eyed Lucies as two separate snakes, and I guess you should.

Does anyone have a Snow project going still, and how is it going? Those that have the snows, how do they compare to the Lucy and Ivory in looks, and in what they can do for a breeding project?

Dave

white is white.........cool......but white........a good pied is white too but adds some color to the pic,.......for some people a ood pied is their top goal......others it will be a good bumblebee maybe.......I love coral glows.....honeybees.....mmmm....oh crap....what about the super phantom......crystal.......damn........even a good SPOG......or a pastel butterscotch/yellow/green/orange ghost......

I gotta stop....I'm gonna cry.....I don't have room for that many hundred cages........

HHHAAAAAAAA

really........there are so many colors out there.......but white snakes can still be made for less than $2G in so many different ways........and that is last years prices.....this year maybe you can start a white snake for $1G.........

.............ugh.......time to clean the mice racks......................

I am just wondering how can you do this make whites for 1grand , please tell me how ?the only way I can see this done is by purchasing HETS.

KMS May 06, 2007 10:29 AM

Dougal,
I think what he was referring to was the mojave and last year they were available for a short time for less than 2k for a pair. And could be as low as 1k a pair...this season..

I think everybody will want a Lucy or two in their collection and demand should outweight supply for a few more years.

The snow projects out there are the ones that were started before Lucies came around. Faster to create a white snake with co-dominant animals.

The holly grail of ball pythons right now has got to be Coral Glows

_Melisa_ May 06, 2007 09:04 AM

How do you make a coral glow?

EricIvins May 06, 2007 08:35 AM

I think they have lost their "Mystique", but I'd still put them on my top 5 ( whether it be an Ivory or Blue/Black eyed Lucies )

JaredHorenstein May 06, 2007 09:42 AM

With over 4 lines and a number of different combo options of white snakes to have come out in the last 3 years, they are a dime a dozen now and are far from being the pinnacle.......

The snow is the big one

Should be some good looking animals.

I agree a 1 in 16 animals is always nice.

I'll take 10 dozen then!!!!!!!!!!

I've never been a fan of the elusive White Balls including the Snow - they've never really been jaw dropping gorgeous to me - I much prefer the Ivory or some of the neat pattern on white balls like the Powerball and Crystal. Now that the white ball has been done to death I see more people focusing on multi combos. JMO

I agree with Tosha. I like the Ivory better. The pinnacle for me is a tie between the Crystal and the Pastel Crystal.

well I'm a huge fan of the crystal and even more of a fan of the SSYB and a great pastel is awesome, so let's say a pastel crystal super stripe is the pinacle for me or even a pastel superstripe should rock.

The original SSYB produced by RPR is still the benchmark!! What will come from breeding that to ?????

milkman2 May 06, 2007 03:01 PM

I think it is the super cinny lavender albino...none done yet as far as I know.

dhrsterling May 07, 2007 03:52 PM

what is the coolest looking ball python debate my vote would have to be the KENTE ball/ rainbow pied. It doesn't need any crosses to make it look cool.
