I finally got them

havic May 06, 2007 04:01 PM

Well in my breeding for food I was playing with some of the rats. And here they are.

Here are the pic's of the 2 Blue Rex Dumbo's I breed. They are brother and sister.

Absolutely adorable.I am sooo jealous.I am struggling just to breed plain dumbos.I would love a blue Dumbo. But a Blue Dumbo Rex is top of the line.

I had fun breeding them to get this result. It took me 3 generations to get here. Now I am going to try to introduce a Seal Point gene in to the mix and see what comes out of it.

Very nice. I'm hoping to have my first blue dumbos in a litter due tonight or tomorrow. I've tried a couple times but always got blue-buff dumbos, never just blue.

If I could find a healthy rex I would add that as well, but haven't seen any around here in over a year.

I finally feel upon the clue for good blues. They have to be bred to blacks now and then. We have nice rich blues from a black het blue male breeding a few solid and broken blue girls. We have a soft powder blue also, but it is being difficult to work with.
Good luck

can you give me a little info on these rats? whats a rex? how do you get these? i recently had one rat that was gray is that a rex? thanks.

Rex is a curly and soft fur and the whiskers are curly too. Most rats are strait furred. The gray color is known as Blue because it has a blue tint to it. And Dumbo is a ear thing lol. So the gray one you had was a Blue rat there are a few different types of Blue.

And just incase you were wondering Rex is a co/dom, the super is a partial hairless. Blue rat is recessive and so is Dumbo.

Hope that helps.

And I learned this all by breeding for food lol.
