Plant care

Is there any fertilizer that I can use on my Hibiscus plant that won't hurt my veild. My plant has had a long winter and looks like it needs a little bit of fertilizer to help it produce some flowers, but I don'y want it to hurt my girl. Anything would be appreciated.

Peat moss should be fine. With frogs you have to watch out for packaged potting soil since these sometimes contain "starter fertilizer" which can cause ammonia toxicty.

I would use a high quality water soluble fertilizer. Drenching the pot would keep the problem of of the lizard drinking any solution to a minimum. You might see if you can find Dyna grow fertilizer since this brand contains calcium. Most fertilizer doesn't contain calcium since it is incompatible with some fertilzer elements. A general purpose one should be fine you really shouldn't need a high phosphourus one. See: http://www.dyna-gro.com/

Thanks. I'll try that. I just didn't want to do something that would be harmful to my girl.

I just remembered that I had some miricle grow fertilizer that goes directly into the ground. I am not worried about her actually eating the fertilizer directly, but is there a way it will effect her if she eats the plant? because she loves to eat that flowers when they come in.

The lizard would be no more effected than you would be if you used it on your vegetable garden. Plants change nutrients into other things pretty quickly. Also plants can only absorb nutrients in certain forms. Water souble fertilizers like miracle grow are made to be rapidly availabe to plants.
