Take Lance's advice, pick a spot and work it hard, I was all over the place last night, saw the guy in front of me squish an adult atrox and got my first pictigaster, both on Juno Rd. Saw no more dor's on 277, did see waaaay too many civets working all those 277 cuts, saw 8 ringtails. Ran outta juice at 2:30, didn't make it to Langtry. Not one dor all night, no rat snakes at all, cloudy and drizzle all day till 4:00 or so, then strong sun for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Temps held 75. Got up this morning and sawdor splendy, adult female between Spoffard and Eagle Pass, and the death toll continued all the way through south Texas to home. Shame, I saved a couple atrox and of all things a r.e. slider and see an ornate squashed to smithereens. 8 dor atrox, 4 aor, 4 dor G.c.ribbons, 5 aor, 1 dor T-rat, 1 dor SP rat, 2 live w.narrowmouth toads, what kind of ribbon would be in Rocksprings?, 1 aor ribbon, 1 aor Great Plains skink, 1 dor T. horned lizard, 2 dor Schotts whips, 1 aor R.e. slider., 1 dor Ornate box turtle. 18 dors to 14 aors, oh yeah saw a couple live frogs on 674 need i.d.'in. Wished I stayed in one place all night and drove straight home. Only herp kept was the skink for show and tell at this Tuesdays herp meeting, man, the southeast side of Eagle Pass was blown away! All told 1142 miles. When I get one that alterna is gonna have cost me a load more than 2 grand! Pic pics and frog id post to come.
