Big Apple's Mercury Bulbs

jdany Aug 14, 2003 07:04 PM

I just ordered 3 of Big Apple's Mercury Bulbs. (They should be here tomorrow) I was wondering what the consensus was with them. Like em? Hate em?

Honestly, I got two new chameleons in yesterday, and I found myself short of tube-fixtures. So, I thought I would give these a try. I have read some interesting things about them..but nothing negative. We all know very well that a completely flawless product doesn't exist.

All of your opinions are welcomes, however, I know much of the positive aspects of the bulbs, just none of the drawbacks.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

Joe-

I hope you got the 100w flood, the Big Apple MV bubs are the hottest 100w MV bulb I have used. I have also had bad luck with them and the T-rex with early burn outs. The only brand I have not had a problem with is Zoomed. Hope this helps!

I did get the 100w. How long did the bulbs last (for you) ?

Thanks for the response. It's appreciated.

Joe-

Some were DOA, some lasted a few days, some lasted a few weeks, and some lasted a few months. I have 2 left, they are not in use right now because all my chameleons are outdoors right now for summer. I think I my bulbs just came from a bad batch, either way I don't have any plans for buying anymore of there bulbs. Hope this helps!

I ordered a big apple bulb as well, I haven't really used it yet because my Cham comes in Sept. But I did notice that they give a 180 day pro-rated warranty. This is the first time I have heard bad things about them, but I guess I will just hope for the best. Good Luck.
