Cypress mulch blend, is it ok??

sclirada May 07, 2007 08:51 PM

I bought a couple of bags for my outside redfoot's enclosure, has anyone used the blend before? Should it be ok? I bought it from Target. Thanks in advance!

I use cypress mulch with my redfoots for years without a problem. In the outdoor enclosure I just have it in their hide but indoors it is mixed with bed a beast 50/50.

I just had to put some on a burrow I'm building to hold the soil down till the plants get established. I'm afraid my desert torts are going to eat it- they go for everything old, dried, fiberous, woody. Hopefully they'll be preoccupied with other things to do, though.

It's known to be non-toxic for snakes (though not the ideal substrate for them.)
