whats a monster island?
Jeff you really should give a lesson on milks on here. many people are out of the loop on these.

I still don't need no spell chack.
looks like a pretty sweet, and pretty huge eastern milk to me.
whats a monster island?
its an eastern milk. jeff feels it is its own ssp.??? "relic" population of "monster/giant" triangulum ... i just dont see it. ive personally had 48-50inch easterns from throughout their range(which is quite large) & its not really that uncommon imho. now a 60inch plus eastern that imho would be a monster that id love to see
but i dont feel it would be genetic(but i certainly could be wrong),imho its diet, age and individuality moreso than locale with larger individuals. sure some locales produce larger individuals, but with a ssp like l.t.t to say giantism is genetic from this locale is grasping to say the least especially when whats pictured is an imho very healthy looking average size l.t.t ,,,,,,,,,thomas davis
thomas.I have been pretty much the only one taking the time to establish the population in captivity...they are a small insular population that has been documented as having the largest milks in north america.I hear about bigger ones all the time.but until you have proof....the biggest milk on record is in the museum of comparative zoology from this locale.they have been isolated since the last ice age.I have submitted dna to determine genetic distancing but they are further away from other e milk locales than outer banks are from chain kings.call me crazy for wanting to keep them pure.lol.
They are definitely interesting, but i think trying to call them a separate subspecies is a bit of a stretch. I mean really its all just terminology. Are there any observable differences aside from size to go along with the genetic differences?
I am not trying to put down your project. I think that they are neat and I would want to keep them pure locality too. Just because I think any subpopulation is worth preserving and I like locality specific animals.
I have seen this argument about a dozen times now on these forums. The snakes are what they are. They are eastern milks from monster island (where is that anyway?) which is more special and unique to some people then it is to others.
cheers
i believe MONSTER ISLAND is nantucket.....i'm told its been really developed....and yea...they should be kept pure..
thomas.I have been pretty much the only one taking the time to establish the population in captivity...
and i applaud that effort.
they are a small insular population that has been documented as having the largest milks in north america...
please share this documentation.

is this the biggest for this state or nationally speaking?and how big is that individual at mcz?
they have been isolated since the last ice age...
interesting.
I have submitted dna to determine genetic distancing but they are further away from other e milk locales than outer banks are from chain kings...
this i will not comment on as im a lumper and imho sticticeps IS l.g.g which i beleive krysko also prooved through actual dna testing but i could be wrong.
call me crazy for wanting to keep them pure.lol...
i certainly would not call you crazy for keeping them "pure"??? locale breeding is very cool & hopefully you have access to new genes from this locale to introduce every 5 generations or so. i really do wish you the best of luck i just dont beleive they are any different from any other l.t.t sorry

it all makes now.lol.I think if you look at the citations in the peterson field guide you will see that specimen number at the mcz. it is a national record...52"you can see if williams found any bigger...but I will save you some time.he didn't. most big ones are males too so this may be the biggest(or soon to be)females. now if you dont see the pattern.genetic or size difference I don't know what to say.if you lump have you compared chains to cals here yet?? maybe you will notice how the ga easterns sometimes look them??
Funny you should say that I have to N. georgia female eastern kings with narrow bands that if not closely looked at might be mistaken by the untrained as calis.
What? You never watched Godzilla?? I thought there was somethingwrong with ya.
