My latest acquisition......

rainbowsrus May 08, 2007 02:43 AM

Just picked up this guy from amazon reptiles this weekend. Was in LA for my nephews graduation and couldn't resist making a pickup while there.

This is Chester, a 2006 sunglow that has tons of color. Is there such a thing as coral sunglow?

Comments always welcome....

Wasn't exactly on a whim, have been thinking about getting one and when I found Amazon had two males for sale, I decided to swing by while I was in the neighborhood and check them out. One definately stood out as higher colored. lots of color and IMO could be a coral, will be able to tell better in the next few months id the color continues to come in.

I have an equally good looker female in mind for Chester's main squeeze.....

Jasmine:

She's an Arabesque albino so there are a total of three morph traits involved and due to the genetics, if Chester is a regular sunglow (het for Hypo) and not a "super" sunglow (Homozygous for hypo) then the babies would fall into four possible phenotypes each with a 25% probability:

Sunglow Arabesque (OMG, that would be amazing)
Sunglow (like Daddy)
Arabesque albino (like Mommy)
Albino (still beautiful)

If Chester is a super sunglow (honestly, I have no idea, still working with the store to get details from the breeder on his parents) then there would only be two phenotypes, Sunglow Arabesque and Sunglow. Each with a 50% probability.

Probably not a super, may not even be a possible super.
