They finally posted the House Journal from yesterday. As many expected, they did not get around to this bill (despite adjourning after midnight). They will probably deal with it today (won’t know until tomorrow).
Time Line:
1) The House deadline for reading this bill is Friday 5/11. They will almost certainly meet that deadline.
2) If passed by the House, it will be read (1st reading) on the Senate floor and referred to a Senate committee (likely Natural Resources).
3) If passed by Senate committee, it will be set on the Senate calendar for a 2nd reading.
4) The Senate deadline for 3rd reading (often the same day as the 2nd reading) the bill is 5/23. This is a tight deadline, but very possible.
My opinion is that IF HB 2414 passes with the promised amendment; we get behind this and encourage the Senators to pass it. It ain’t perfect, but it finally writes road herping into law.
