Be amazed.... Year....Two.....

thebigsquease May 08, 2007 09:19 PM

Well, if you remember last year, I produced a really awsome snake from a WC clutch. By the way she is doing great, and growing like a weed.
Yesterday, I had a clutch hatch from a WC female. She was a "black back" looking animal. Laid eight eggs. Five look like normal ball pythons. Number six was a wide black back baby, Number seven was a even wider black back baby, and Number 8, it looks like.....

The black back siblings:

All three together:

From what I have looked at, and what I've been told from a few that have seen other pictures, they look like red Axanthic and het red Axanthic.
I'm not saying they are. But none the less, I think they are awsome! I attempted to pop them, and all look like female. Same as the clutch I got last year. Go figure.

Enjoy

Congratulations. They sure look exactly like het and red axanthics to me. Really nice ones too. I see absolutely no resemblance to a Phantom.? That's really interesting to get a super from a WC animal. She found another het red in the wild? Mother nature is so cool. You said the mother was a black back too, right? Got any pics of her, or aren't you wanting to share them? Good luck with them. That's gotta be one of the most exciting things to find a surprise like that after waiting for a WC clutch to hatch, wondering the whole time what will be in the eggs.

Congrats on the babies Ron!

They don't look like Red Axanthics or Het Red Axanthics to me. So, you are free to call them whatever you'd like.

Here are some Red Axanthic baby pics;

Baby het Red Axanthic

Baby het Red Axanthic beside a normal sibling.

Once again congrats on the babies!

Is this a joke? Your pictured hets and red axanthics look just like what ron has. The days of $7500 het reds are over. It's time to let go. Awesome luck ron, and congrats.

They look more like ducks to me!

BackBeat May 09, 2007 03:05 AM

...with you.

The only real difference I see is that Corey's Red Axanthics have the broken eye stripe towards the nose. Ron's don't, no, BUT, it could just be the same slight variance we see in alot of the morphs that have various lines.....

Clowns, Caramels, Cinny/Blk Pastels, Calicos, YellowBellies, Ivories, Fires, Mojaves, Piebalds, Butters, Womas, Pastels, Ghosts, etc...ALL have more than one line originating from the wild. Why should anyone be surprised or deny that another line of Het Reds (and thus Red Axanthics) would eventually surface??

Congrats, Ron, on the new hatchlings.

I totally agree, it is a different morph. If every single one to date has had broken eye stripes I think that is a deciding factor, also the color is a little off and Rons dosent have the extra dark scales between the dorsal pattern. Plus the hets look nothing like any het red i own or have seen before. Possibly a new line of an already proven Red but not an actuall Red that any one has proven to date.

slshaw May 11, 2007 02:22 AM

....Corey and the majority of people who own the "wood's line" of het red or red want to deny the existence of any other line because it will (and has) devalued that line. Come on! They have even denied that TSK's line is legit, when TSK sold him his original stock, claiming that they haven't kept track of what they have over there and they have no way of knowing. TSK sells a record keeping system for Pete's sake and keeps record of everything they have. Wood's Line, TSK line, maybe even Ron's Line are most likely the same thing. The fact is that Ron's animals are almost identical given the photos he shared. They don't have to be exact. Are they het red's and red's for sure? No. Not until proven compatible, but they surely stand a great chance at doing so. Instead of making statements that are so obviously in the interest of protecting your market and the market of those who have purchased from you, welcome the arrival of Ron's success and possible new blood to het reds to make them a genetically variable and stronger morph.

Did all the Reds you produce always have the twin spots on the tip of the nose where the eye stripe breaks? I know Ralph produced a few clutches last year and every single one had those spots, that is actually what i loved about the Reds ... lol... I noticed Rons did not have the spots and that yours did, have all of your Reds had those two spots ? Just curious, i personally love Reds and think they are underated, there will be some amazing crosses with them in the time to come ..
Thanks
Kim

Congrats Rob. When you e-mailed me those pictures I would of never that you hatched one of those. It is a true miricle ball.At first I thought it was like the super Lori from the only crappy photo I have seeen of it. I think Corey is right. The others in the clutch supposed het reds do not look like his het reds. You have something different. Good luck with it. Oh yeah have you calmed down enough to pop it yet.LMAO What did you end up with.

Looking at these pics.. they kind of suck.
After they shed, I'll snap some better pictures to post.
I still have about thirty clutches to hatch. I wonder if anything else interesting will hatch out this season???

LOOK's like you need to play the lotto, your luck seems to be pretty good. That new baby looks awesome, but I am not 100% sure what it is, They do Kinda look like(have some of the same charactoristics) Corey's Red Axanthics and your 2 black backs are along the same line as Corey's. I am not saying that they are the same BUT, they could be like the black pastel/cinnamon meaning they MIGHT be the same as. To me the black pastel looks different from a cinnamon but some people classify them as the same morph but when each of the two morphs are bred with the same type of other morph something slightly different is produced(i.e. silver streak-silver bullet) from what I understand one is from a cinnamon pastel line and one is from a black pastel line, I may be wrong on this and I an sure I will get set strait if I am...LOL. Anyway the point I am trying to make is that YOUR new baby MIGHT be The same TYPE of RED AXANTHIC as Corey's but not the same LINE since your's were produced from a Imported wild collected female. Thanks David
