Breathing problem better- new problem

bmulcahy May 08, 2007 10:11 PM

I took my corn to a vet and he had a respiratory problem. I am now giving him a shot every other day- What a sight! lol

Now I have a new problem with a different corn. Jake is five years old and I just noticed bumps on his lower portion of his body. They look like something pushed the skin out. There are six of them (three on each side). He is very active and not sensitive. They almost look like stretch marks. Each bump is about an 1/2 inch long and comes out about an 1/8 of an inch. I tried to download a picture and I can't do it! I am a computer idiot!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

No one but a veterinarian will be able to tell you for sure (espocially without a photo), but they are most likely fat deposits. Snakes that are overfed or raised up to adulthood too quickly sometimes get them. They most often occur on the sides of the snake near the tail.

If they are fat deposits and your snake looses weight, they'll become less noticeable, but they never really go away.

I don't know. He's the only one I've seen that looks like that. His coloration is normal, but he's got a combo of striped, cubed and patternless going on.

I'm breeding him to a sunglow motley next year. He's a multi-het for amel and probably some other things as well. It should be neat to see what he produces in 2008.

Tim's right,...I'm pretty sure your snake has the same thing mine had many years ago!...

I had a large male "ghost"corn that was a real "garbage can" of an eater!....I gave him lots of extra mice that some of the others didn't eat when they were supposed to, so I'd toss them over to him.

Later on when I saw how really big he got from eating all those extra mice, I also noticed a whole bunch of small soft lumps about the same exact size you mentioned....so I immediately cut him back, and didn't feed him for a few weeks, and even then I just fed him a moderate diet.

His fatty-deposits slowly went away in time, and I couldn't really notice them at all after many months went by.

Thanks for the thoughts! Anyone want to try to explain how to post a picture? Pretend the person has never seen a computer before! Thanks!
