Anyone have any idea why NOAA's point forecast system is not working for the Trans-Pecos region?
what is the NOAA point forecast? not familiar with that one, can't have too much weather information.

It's a great tool for getting forecasts for remote areas.
Check it out here:

This link is to the Charleston SC area (it's not working for anywhere near SW Texas). Click on ANY "point" on the map toward the bottom right of the page, and you'll get a forecast for that EXACT spot.
I find it to be very helpful and more surprisingly accurate. The Apline (53 miles north) and Terlingua (25 miles south) forecasts are useless for my house.
It hasn't been working for the past few days and I can't find any "technical difficulty" announcements.
I've had good luck with the weather channel radar pages.

Yep. Their radar is good, but they don't have forecasts for my area. NOAA's "Point Forecast" is the only source I've found for actual forecasts to remote areas. They can accurately forecasts the weather at my house, my cabin 16 miles to the SE, or my property in the Solitario 20 miles to the SW.
the hourly info is also down. I did find the points forecast yesterday in a round about way, but do not remember how I got there. Hopefully they will be updated soon and get it back up on the main page.
I had to go to a point forecast for the Dallas area (closest I could find) and click the SW corner of the map over and over and over again until I finally go to my area. Looks like herping weather.
