So I was told that this turtle is a 3 toed box turtle, but I had another person indicate that she has the markings of an Eastern. Any thoughts??

I've seen markings like those on both Eastern and Three-toed box turtles. How many toes are on the hind feet? Also, do you know where this turtle came from?
You may never actually be able to determine 100% either way...you can only weight the evidence a make a best guess.
3 toes on the back legs....I don't know where she came from, I adopted her through the local herptological society.
I've seen Three-toed box turtles that have four toes on their hind feet, but I've NEVER seen an Eastern box turtle with three toes(naturally, that is). You may never be able to be certain of your turtle's identity. However, the evidence seems to be pointing to a Three-toed box turtle. Keep in mind, there is a large area of intergradation between Three-toes and Easterns. They've been advertised before in the classifieds section due to their pretty coloration.
Either way, it is a very attractive little turtle. Good luck with it.
