BOA SPITTING CLEAR LIQUID

bscotpa May 09, 2007 11:24 PM

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what is going on with my 3 year old female colombian boa. Earlier today when i picked her up a few drops of a clear, sticky liquid came out of her mouth. I have never noticed anything like this before. Can anyone tell me if I should get her checked out or if it is normal? Thanks, Brian

as a responsible owner, you should take her to the vet immediately. sounds like it may be a respiratory infection. a bad one at that.

Well it may be something serious, or you could have picked her up just after taking a drink, and some ran back out. I've seen this type of thing from mine , and she has remained healthy. Before you panic, check her out later and see if it is still "oozing". Good luck, David

I agree with David....It may have just taken a drink of water and you picked it up and came up. I have done this a few times with Boas and Cribos.....kind of freaks you out at first. I would definitely keep an eye on it though....check it out tomorrow and see if you notice anything related to a respiroatory infection....good luck..

I agree as well, my male rainbow did it a few years back. It smelled bad but it was just water that had gone down and back up.

It could be just a little Boa slobber couldn't it? I mean I slobber once in a while espceially at my favorite MExican Resaurant. But seriously, most likely just a little of the water she had just taken coming back out after you picked her up. But I do kind of like the slobber theory. Remember, you heard it here first!

I agree with the backwash,no need to get freaked out and pay a vet bill.
