PLUGS????

ldblawson May 10, 2007 07:33 AM

I hAVE BEEN BREEDING/HANDLING/IMPORTING snakes for a very, very long time and now I don't claim to know everything but I do know alot. Now, here is my question, I sold some imported female balls to a man and he claims that some of the female have "BAD PLUGS" AND CAN NEVER BREED. I have never heard of a female having a bad sperm plug or any kind of plug that can go bad. I have ask some respected people in the trade and they have never heard of this either. I wanted to come here and ask .

Sounds to me, that your friend HAS NOT been doing this for a long time and DOESN'T know what he's talking about! It also sounds like, that something has popped up that he needs money for, that's more important than Ball Pythons! I just don't know why people don't come clean?

I have also been working with balls for awhile and never heard of that before. I know that males can have a low sperm count and in return females can have a low egg count, but never of a female having bad plugs. I would ask him what he is reffering too, and how you can tell if an animals has bad plugs.... I may have females with bad plugs, we all need to know how to stop this from happening or the ball python world may come to an end with no females to lay eggs.... lol.....
I really dont think it is in any way possible unless a female had complications with eggs in the past and is internally damaged, which he wouldnt be able to tell by looking at them anyways...And why would he call that "plugs"

You should tell him to stick with Thamnophis, Garter snakes females have plugs from preceeding copulations!

Maybe he means spark plugs. Tell him, change em, they're behind the 33rd 34th and 35th set of ribs .
Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

I haven't been doing this as long as many in here, but I've heard females can have a plug similar to the sperm plug in males. There have been threads on it in here in the past. I know it's not sperm, but unfortunately that's all I know.

OK, I've read all of the posts before mine and it wasn't mentioned in your original ad either.
Did you sell these snakes with a "guaranteed to breed" clause??? I don't know of anybody who does. You never know if they will breed when they get to where they're going.

Just my thoughts on the situation.

...........OB?

.........he is crazy?

........the only possible thing woyld be he popped them and he is calling the "scent" glands plugs.......what would a bad plug be?.......too big? meaning they are males?........girls are girls.....you can't tell what they'll give you or lay till you do it...........

maybe he wants to get cash back for madeup stuff?.

ask him if you can pop his wife and see if she too has bad plugs?..........

He's pulling a fast one..lol. I would never deal with him again. I think he would like more females. I'd like to know who he is. Just so I could ask him in detail about this.
