my first litter of Trans-Pecos copperheads

herpo Aug 14, 2003 10:02 PM

I had a pleasant surprise today when my pandale dirt north female A. c. pictigaster delivered 3 babies. This may seem like a small litter, but mamma is 22.75" long and the baby I measured is 9.25" long, and they are FAT. Mother weighed 105 grams after delivering and the three babies weigh a total of 45 grams.

As a kicker, I also had a litter of broad banded born today out of a beautiful red female.

never found a male for so I got rid of her last year. I had a KY locale northern have 6 babies for me last August and I remember how exciting it was. I think copperhead babies are really attractive too. But they're about my favorite snakes in the world so it doesn't take much to excite me when it comes to them. Anyway, congratulations. They look really good.
