The Jungle Boa

evercraig190 May 10, 2007 04:18 PM

HI all, i am very interested in the jungle boa. Is it recessive or dominate? I am thinking dominate/co-dominate but not sure. Does anyone have any pics to share of either the jungle or super jungle. And also, im having a hard time finding some of these for sale, anyone know why? I just want a jungle male, and i only saw a couple in the classifieds and they were both het something or another...thanks for your time...

It's a codominant gene which causes blocky, outlined, and frequently aberrant saddles, along with enhanced coloration. In the super form the aberrancy is dramatic. Here's two babies which just had their first shed, first a jungle

and a super

Co-dominant, as was said.
Most are at least possible het Kahl, for most this doesn't matter, you can use it like a regular Jungle for breeding and ignore the extra gene. It just gets in the way for people that want to use them for Sharp Albinos though.

Pete has lots of Jungle and Super Jungle pics on his site. Especially in the pics of litters from '06.
