Uh Oh.... now what have I done?

waspinator421 May 10, 2007 05:06 PM

It seems this addiction is biting me very hard. I got 2 new babies shipped to me on Tuesday and a new adult female today. I don't have any pictures, or even a name, yet of the adult girl.... but here are the new babies... they are from Joe Exposito at Thoroughbred Exotics, and produced by his brother Scott Sweeney of Sweeney's Serpents.

This one is Pixel, a normal male.

His name is Pixel because in one of his saddles he has one little scale that is completely black. You can sort of see it on the very top just to the right, but its hard to tell. I'll get some more up soon so you can see it better.

And here is the female, named Copper after the "C" on her neck. I hope her orange gets brighter as she grows!

I really like the connected saddles on the girl. You can't really see it in the picture, but the male also has some nice 'dorsal striping', or 'squiggle' as I like to call it. A couple of my other BRB's have some nice long ones too, and I am going to to try and breed for that trait. I'd love to make one with a complete squiggle all the way down the back.

I've been playing around with making my photos look more professional for my website. These two are a sample of that. I've seen many breeders stamp their logo on their pictures, and I always though it looked nice, so I wanted to give it a try. What do you guys (and gals) think?

I'll try and get some pictures of the adult soon.

Thanks for looking!

loved the pics even though you always take great ones and the stamped logo is cool. If I was a pimp I would put Copper in my stable of working girls

Thanks for the compliments, Bob. I wish I knew how to create a cleaner, more crisp looking logo... but I think I need a better program first. Perhaps someday!

Mike,
Do you have photoshop? and do you have your logo in a .psd format w/ the layers still? If so, you can just turn off the black background and select everything else. Then insert that into your photographs. Inserting it, locating it, and resizing it should only take a few seconds per image.

I was going to steal your logo and a picture a do one w/ screen shots to walk you through it.. but w/ the white halo around reptiles, it will be difficult to seperate without having the psd file.

Thanks Mike. I just used Microsoft Publisher. My photo program is only a "starter" edition and I'd have to pay $80 to be able to use all of the features. So, to get a round that I just insert my picture and my logo to Publisher. You can select a color to be 'transparent', I just clicked on the white around my logo, and viola!

It's not the most effecient way to do it, but for me it is cheaper!

Parthogenesis!

While it has been known to happen in frogs, I'm reasonably certain it only happens with females. I'm thinking your business case is a bit lacking?

Business wise, I am a consultant to R&R Herpetological, I have plans to be AZA certified in the future. I am an Amateur Herpetologist (which NJ recognizes as scientifically relevant) but have figured a way to make a few bucks studying reproductive biology. , my life-long friend John Rodriguez owns R&R Herpetological ( a legitimate business in it's infancy )

and really like Socata and those Cali Kings looked good too btw
Bob

waspinator421 May 12, 2007 06:20 PM

Thanks Bob! Yeah, Socata sure is fun. She gets all puffed up and hissy, sometimes even does a few "mock" strikes.... but she'd never actually hurt you. And once you get her out of her cage she is a sweetheart. Just likes her "space" I guess, lol! Bullsnakes are so much fun.... I want more!

Thanks for the compliments, Dave! Actually, the little logo in my signature should be a link to my site. Perhaps I should put a text link below it to make it a bit more obvious.
