Summer Ducky

RoadGumby May 10, 2007 07:46 PM

Hello all,

I have a 3 y.o. male Yellow. I don't post much, but did take some nice pictures today of him and wanted to share. He seemed to enjoy the pool we got him, plus we fed him outside, just for a change, Here are the pics of the fun.

Thanks FR,
And I do agree. Ducky was a treasure of a find. I truly didn't know anything about Anacondas when I bought him, a 'faux pas' I know. But having committed that 'sin', I did some research and found out that Ducky was an 'aggressive' snake. But he's been all but dog tame.
He's about 5 1/2' long now, getting heavy. I've never owned a snake this big, so I am learning as I go. I do respect him, but also trust him. He will put his face right up to mine. Hopefully I will not need stitches one day :^)
I would get a second Conda, but it'd probably be the 'Chainsaw' everyone talks about.

well I have two and both are extremely aggresive, note I have heard and seen tame yellow and greens in the past, I do not handle them much, otherwise they probably would tame down, I am not afraid of them or anything silly like that, I do not handle any of my snakes much unless it's necessary. Regardless, they are still one of the most interesting snakes I keep and study.

No, he didn't at all. Ducky has always had a dependable appetite. Once a week over the three years I've had him.

When I originally bought him, I fed him live mice. When he grew to the point that it was time for rats, I got a bit worried at the chance the rat could fight back, so decided to try feeding f/t.

I had read alot on the trials some people went through to switch their snke over to f/t and was mentally prepared to have a long changeover. But to my pleased surpise, he took the f/t rat the very first time and has taken it every time. So much cheaper and safer.

That and Ducky is just about as tame an Anaconda as you could wish for. Real gentle, not too head-shy ( I make it a point to put my hands around his head alot just for that reason) Anyway, thanks for looking, take care.
