The way it works it's NOT the number of threads that is important, it's the number of responses to those threads.

For example, we have three dedicated pages of non archived posts. Quite often it stretches to four unless it was just archived.

Each page is 50 threads (along with all the replies) long.

The top 10 is determined by total non archived posts. So, it's always 150 threads (plus some qty ready for archive) and all the replies.

Currently we run around 1400 plus/minus. That means on average we have 8 1/3 replies per thread. The only way to increase the 1400 is to increase the average number of replies.

SO, if you really want this to be the MOST popular forum, There are two things you can do:

#1) REPLY REPLY REPLY to threads. Chat back and forth within that thread. Thank folks for their responses etc. etc. Don't need to be wordy, even the "np" replies count

#2) Don't start a new thread in response to an existing one.

Were you up late playing with your snakes, Tim?

Renee

TimOsborne May 11, 2007 03:56 PM

Nah.. I have a older dog that has a bit of trouble making it all the way through the night, he was outside tending to his "needs" so I surfed the net for a few..

Here is the old man though.. don't think he has been posted on here yet..
This is bogart..

Bogart's a beaut! He looks like he knows what's what ('cause he's been there and back). Hope you guys can get more uninterrupted sleep though...

Renee

TimOsborne May 11, 2007 04:01 PM

Thanks! He has good nights and bad.. but we have been the best of friends for over 13 years now.. I don't mind getting up to let him out when he needs it.

Besides, I would rather do that then clean a mess in the morning.

Looking at Today (the 10th), we've started 5 "new" threads and including this one, there are a total of 80 posts (75 replies) That will go al long way towards furthering our standing.

Warning though, It will "hurt" when these posts archive, will lose a big chunk of posts so we have to keep up the good work!!
