You're right, I tried to count it all up without taking off my shoes....my bad. I see my mistake, I listed the genesis project as 4.4, actually is 5.4
The "sweet-n-low from B.K." will not be a keeper so doesn't count.

I'm jealous! What a lot of marvelous serpents you have! I only have three total---and I'm lucky to have that, given that my husband's not a "snake person." I started with 2 corns (amel & anery) and in April got my first young BRB---which I just love! He's an early birthday present.

Thanks Tim! (Although my birthday's not until June, so this was a genuinely EARLY present). Well then - Happy Early Birthday
Don't worry about the quality of the pics.. some of us here enjoy photography as a hobby as well.. but we love all pics of rainbows.. and it is certainly about the snakes on this forum and not the image quality.
When you have some photos.. just speak up, I am sure there are plenty of people that would be happy to help.

Well Aubrey, technically speaking, you do have spot number 5 on the wait list.
OK, 6th since I get first pick of all babies but I'm getting pretty full up so don't anticipate keeping any.
Really back to 5th since number 3 is a wholesale request and DUH, no high colors are going wholesale.
AND, not only is Daisey gravid, but her mom is also gravid from her father, so 100% siblings are also a strong possibility. Things are looking good for my high orange project!!

More stunning rainbow pix! What a delight; I especially like that head shot with the blue iridescence! But how do you get them to hold still and watch the birdie?
Renee
Thank you Renee, No need to be jealous. I started with a much smaller collection many years ago. Only within the last 5 years have I decided I enjoy this hobby sooooo much that I was willing to commit the time and resources necessary for acquiring and maintaining such a large collection.
BTW,
Welcome to our forum, our electronic home away from home. As you've already found, we have a outstanding bunch of folks here. From very diverse backgrounds and many of which keep other species. I've found (and most will chime in readily) this forum to be outstanding! Always very helpful and always willing to freely give out the info needed to care for these beauties. Very little bickering, can't even remember the last time I saw any. Quite often tongue in cheek sarcasm but then again, I love that about this place...admitedly, I'm quite often guilty of it myself.

Roberts' Realm Of Reptile Research

My plans seem to constently change on me. I guess my wish list is just way to big.
I think first and foremost and I need to "plan" on more cages. It amazes me how quickly I run out of room every time I build a new cage or rack.
I have lately been getting interested in some of the dwarf BCI morphs though so hopefully I can get some more of those this year. So far only have some leopard hets and a sonoran hypo.
I'm running up against an even bigger problem. I have plenty of cages, a few cages and several racks not even in use. My problem is I'm running out of places to put them. My snake "room" is full up. I'm down to three viable options (well four if you count downsizing the collection - NOT AN OPTION)
1) Build a room in the garage, do-able but some issues with insulation, temp control and proximity to sinks.
2) Take over an upstairs bedroom. same issues as with garage and is carpeted, spillage would be an issue.
3) Go external and rent/lease a true facility. $$$

I am fotunate in the space issue. I moved into a new house last year and still have half an unfished basement to work with as I grow. (My fiancee thinks I will be building extra bedrooms and a family room down there but we'll see about that). The best part with an unfinished basement is you can set things up exactly as you want with no backtracking!
The biggest problems for me with a large collection is time and feeders. I'm always short on both. Its not uncommon for me to spend 10 hours on a Saturday when I do my thurough cleanings.
I'd kill for a basement!!! I live in CA and we don't have them very much.
What kind of substrate are you using? I don't typically spend that amount of time "cleaning" that cages but I do spend quite some time cleaning water bowls. All mine are on dimpled craft paper ofer newspaper or paper towels. Much easier to keep clean!!

Basement are great for a hobby like this. My Fiancee's parents even have a pen built in theirs for their spur thigh.
I grew up in Ca. though, after being here, I don't know what I do without one.
My substrates vary. All my boa cages use newspaper with ceramic water dishes and rubbermaid humidity boxes full of damp cypress. Subadult racks, I use aspen bedding so that I can spot clean easier. Same for my rosy racks. For babies I use paper towels and plastic water dishes. For rats and mice I use pine bedding. (Those are the worst to clean by far)
I also frequently hand wash the water bowls and rack tubs.
I plan to eventually switch to the craft paper like you use. I think it makes for a much better visual and you never have ugly ink spots.
Well those Leopards look pretty cool but the dwarf boas that have my attention would be in no particular order
1- blood boa
2- anery sonoran (like Warren Booth's oohlahlah)
3- hypo nics
4- ghost nics
but my true love are the brb's so maybe later I can diversify in a few years but the motleys, coral albinos and a anery het. albino to make me a snow would be great in the meantime
Bob
p.s. and more cages
Those are up there for me too.
I would definately add T Nics though. As adults those have got to be the best of the T's.
anything that gets better with age is right up my alley. I can't tell you how often I go the Burke's website cuz there animals are unbelievable.
Bob
Yeah and the morph potential... could you imagine T leos, Bloody T's, and Motley T's? Make me salivate. Damn, I need to win the lottery.
I am going to do my best not to buy anything new this year LOL I have too much of a collection right now...but I do hope to sell off some excess critters I just dont' have time for anymore even though I really do enjoy keeping them.
But that said, I will most likely pick up either a tarantula (probably a Mexican Red Knee) or a tailless whip scorpion. But, will only get them if I get my snake racks built...If I don't no room for extra stuff.
-----
PHLdyPayne
Tarantulas are pretty amazing creatures and my friend has about 5 of them. I bought him an Antilles Pink-toe last Nov. and that is the prize of his collection now that it went from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 now but his others are about 3 inches and he quite often asks for some pinkies from me
Bob
I'm with you. I'm fighting the demonic urge not to buy more animals this year. I've told myself, no more animals until I produce some chondros. Gotta have goals.

...most likely.....nothing. My parents say three snakes is enough(it isn't! and ball pythons don't count! they're pet rocks that eat!) If I do acquire anything, it'd be a northern black racer.

I plan on picking up several snakes this year... some of which I already have checked off.
I'm still looking for some more reduced and/or abberant patterned Thayeri Kings, and perhaps a Vivid orange one or two.
I would like a pair of Black Pines and a pair of Hypo Stillwater Bulls.
Hmmm..... I think that is about it. I'm sure another BRB or two will be added if I see one I need.
2 06 female spotted pythons for my male. These are already bought and will ship this week. The one will be incredible, if it is 1/2 as good as its picture. The sond is good, and was bought to share the shipping charge.
A 1.1 of stimsons pythons. I am on the list for 1.1 from unrelated clutches.
I would like to get up to 3 more brb's. I want a high-orange for certain.
I am also looking at a 1.1 of high pink colombian boas.
My wife really wants an emerald tree boa.
Thus, I think I will need a lot more cages.

1.1 BRB

I have plenty or rainbowboas and although they are beautiful, I am looking for something new... sorry for misspellings.
I'd like a small group of tree boas (Emaralds (Amazons??) and Sanzinia).
I am currently looking at Hogg Island boas, trying to figure out which phase I like the best.
I am going to buy a few very select female Red Tails from several.different localities. only the top babies from outstanding adults.
Also looking into several of the smaller subspecies.
I am going to buy several screamer jungle carpets.
and I am thinking about the following...
maybe some morph colombian boas,
some of the insular Epicrates species,
possibly a new rainbowboa morph...I really like the albino CRB, but they are expensive.
that's all I can think of at the moment. if anyone has suggestions as to good breeders of any of these, please post names or Email me.

I was at Gus's house yestersay and picked up three real nice boas. his collection makes me envious.
I am already on a waiting list with will and mary leary (ReptilicusReptiles.com). I cannot recommend these guys enough....and their snakes are nice too.
as for the albino CRB, I was looking at the T- albino from ricardo even though I do like the T albibo from brian sharp.
thanks for the reply, and nice to meet you Bob.
BHH
No problem Bryan and nice to meet you to (talk about a formal introduction huh
)
3 snakes from Gus -how do I say u lucky bastard
Will has beautiful specimens as do you, I believe I saw 2 animals from a JR clutch or something like that, both high oranges and bright a$$ crescents to boot-they had me drooling too
I really like the T-neg rather than the T-pos myself cause it must be the pattern I think rather than just a creamy appearing individual (in my eyes at least) Nice chatting and the best of luck this breeding season to you
Bob
I think I need at least two more subspecies of Rainbow Boas.

talking about sub-species Jeff, when does that revision come out again? Which two are you getting huh?
Bob
Bob,
..Epicrates cenchria subspecific revisions? I have not heard anything since maybe 9 months ago when they were going to publish it "soon". Delays like this in the field of taxonomy are the norm. I am always watching for any of the subspecies I do not own. The easy one to get that I have had in the past are the Guyanans. I passed up getting crassus a couple years ago which was a mistake. Getting any of the other subspecies I don't have will be very difficult.
