I have a really nice new design but for it to really work properly I would like to place heat tape or something INSIDE the pole they hang on....which can be connected to a dimmer,etc...Anyone do this or have anything to add??Jeff

just make darn sure there is a dimmer/thermo/rheo connected to it. Also what is the pole made of? If its PVC i'd say that some Flex Watt heat tape, 3 or 4 in, could do it quite nicely. If your into wood or something more "natural" looking i'd guess that heat rope, in a very small length would work well... basically drill a hole big enough for the rope and put it in there.

I'm assuming you'd be using PVC pipe. Narrow Flexwatt or the old style ice-melting heat tape would work as long as you use a heat controller with it. I think it would be interesting to install the heating product in only half the length of the perch, and let the snake show you what temps it prefers.
Check out this link. I use this inside some PVC tubing. Make sure you use a temperature controller of some sort so it wont get to hot.
