There are lots of snakey areas around Houston.
I haven't herped there in a number of years, but any areas around water will have watersnakes. This includes the grassy roadside ditches in the agricultural areas that surround the city.
Eastern Hognosed Snakes used to be common in the sandy soils around buffalo bayou.
Kingsnakes and cottonmouths are downright abundant as you get into the grassy coastal prairies west and south of town.
The pine forests north and east of town produce copperheads and milksnakes.
TX Brownsnakes and Ribbonsnakes are everywhere.
