ps are argentinan tegus usually wild caught or capitive bred

I am pretty sure that most of the argentine tegus you see around are captive bred. Lots of people have been very successful at breeding them.

I personally love both monitors and tegu's. My monitor seems much more intelligent though. Tegu's seem to bite at anything thinking its food and are really clumsy climbers. You'll have your hands full with either, but you will have a wonderful experience if you are ready for it and know what you are getting into.

ive owed both and still have a argtine tegu and no ackkies but the ackkies are far more rewarding!!!!! if u have 3 or more u will see things that only have been witneseed in the wild before captive breeding took off. the intelligence is amazing. id like to one day set up a group of ackkies in my living room better than any fishtank or and hd tv!!! and i have 3 fishtanks.plus they get so tame and they will breed. its hand down the ackkies. great lizard one of the best....

Well if you were looking for a lizard that came somewhat close to being tame and getting used to human contact I guess the Argentine Tegu would be your best choice, I dont know of any other that comes close. Big Jim
