Find New...whats up with that?

zefdin May 11, 2007 09:49 PM

Have I missed this FIND NEW search header?

How long has it been up there?

Nothing for nothing, but it is a little over-thought if you ask me.

This Logon..Login, Last log on ..Start...Stop..Time..Date..2nd To Last Login...Ohh my God does anyone use this confusing mess...

Why dont they just enhance the normal search engine with an advanced feature.

This way people can find a previous topic like..Panacur dosing for Ball pythons-ONLY. So people dont have to dig through a million topics. This will enable people to find the specific information they are looking for and, I think, will prevent alot of the redundant posting that goes on.

lol

I like your thinking!

I had my firewall off for a minute & saw there is a huge rotating banner ad at the top of the page. All this time I thought it was wasted landscape, lol.

lol..

Your better off letting your fire wall block that rotating flashing banner junk anyhow, just slows up the works.

I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it and even then I had to look three times to find it. LOL

It's pretty much a joke - they could have cut out a lot of work by just allowing you to narrow down your search more at least into a specific category.

I appreciate the effort put into the Find New thing and I dont mean to sound ungracious, but I want to do my searches by Topic not by Date or my 33rd to the second to the last login or something?

People want to search something like:

"Cutting Ball Python Eggs"

~or~

"How often should my Ball eat?"

Why the heck would someone want to reference there 2nd to last login for anything???

Am I missing something??

They must have been able to set up the search criteria more easily, because they already monitor login's and logout's, so the just had to filter on the date this way.

Setting it up to filter on specific topics would probably take a whole new seach query to be devised.

The 'find new' option is there so you can get a list of all the new posts since your last login without having to go to all your favorite forums. If you frequent multiple forums, it will save alot of clicking to see if anything new was posted in each forum.

For keyword searching specific forums for a certain topic, does take alot of background work to set up. But, if you all go to 'contact us' and send a note requesting more advanced forum searching tools. THe more people requesting it the better chance the web master may decide to spend the time to created it.
