Thats true, when i handle my babies i always talk gently to them. i never pull my hand away fast if they do bark and lurch at my hand. instead i leave it still after they strike and then continue. i dont want them to know i fear them just like i dont want them to fear me. if you hold them they do much better to sit on your arm/hand without restraining them. they like to jump or take off but after doing this several times and always putting them back in their home they get alot better and dont always try to escape. they almost always, ive had a few exceptions, dont like to be caught in their home. and yes my adults allow me to clean, pick up or remove items within inches from them. they learn you, your voice and the things you do regularly. I think a exception might be kepping adults in too small a tank. i hear to many times at pet stores that the Tokays are mean as Hell. you have to understand their nature.
