Leucistics

NOT THAT I AGREE WITH HYBRIDIZATION but has anybody done a cross with a Leucistic Texas rat to try and introduce the gene into guttata? I would be surprised if nobody out there has tried this?

It's been done. LLLReptiles was offering het leucistic corn/Tx rat crosses a few months ago.

We should see the leucistic crosses this year. Pure white half corns.....I hope their meaner than Texas rats are supposed to be. That would be funny.

A little off topic but does anyone know if that is how the leucistic black rat snakes came about or if they were a naturally occuring morph?

A leucistic was caught in the wild. It got passed on to Bern Bechtel, who bred it. Details are in his paper about rat snake mutants in the Journal of Heredity back in 1985.
