rat eaters grow fatter and bigger faster...yep......and are mushy all over..........mouse eaters grow big too but not too fat and are firmer........mice are ok........

I proved it.....my friend Chad says it......and Dave Barker wrote it in his book.......
ask anyone..............

Yep...I agree, I even switched a couple of my males from rats back to mice just so they would eat more consistent. I got jumbo mice from American Rodent Supply so big you don't even have to worry about feeding smaller rodents...cause they aint!!
And yes...I have females eating them also and growing like they are eating rats.

.I just happened to look into a ghost male's cage.......I threw a large mouse in there and forgot .....couple hours went by.......he ate it........the card I thought was wrong.....when I went to write down the date and mouse.....I noticed it said 2005 on the top left of card....so I read it all..yep......a whole year on one side of a 3 x 5 card and less......now I use about 3 columns on a side......some were from 2005 december.....some from 2007 Jan through April...alot were sheds...........anyways.....I totalled them up and this male ate 14 total rodents for the 2006 year.....couple of them were 2 at a time........rats and mice.........and this ghost is 4 foot and 2 years old.........guess he don't eat half as much as I thought he did..........

I feed them alot.....they are just too dumb to eat it....

.........het pied male is like 550 grams and less.???...he is 2 years old.....from Pete......he hasn't eaten in 6 months and 3 days.....his problem..........

.........they don't need a huge rat every 5 days.........

My balls like rats better hand down , the rats are better as prey for balls overall they carry more of everything their is know comparison rats just are far superior as feeders than wimpy mice .

i too have heard many times that rats are more nutritious

toshamc May 13, 2007 12:47 PM

Actually - studies indicate that most domestic feeders (rats and mice) carry 2-3 times the amount of nutrients than our domestic animals need - therefore the extra nutrients are not even used and become nothing but waste.

Rats do contain a high fat content - which is passed onto the snakes. It would be analogous to eating pork chops instead of chicken.

Either work well - neither is better - most people prefer rats because they grow larger and one will do for most snakes as opposed to having to feed several which can be time consuming. Also because of the higher fat content it's easier to put weight on the snake.
