How long does it take for a helix to reach its desired temp? I have a used animal plastics iris 375 that I am setting up and the temperature is not going up. Am I doing something wrong?

Where is the probe from the thermostat located?

The location of the probe can't be the problem. It's not getting hot, so unless the probe is sitting on a heat source it should be putting out power to the heating element.
The probe has to sense heat or the thermostat will keep power to the heating element.
Make sure you have the Helix set at your desired temp. Put the probe under the tub in the hot spot. Make sure it will stay put.
Are using a nightime drop(photocell or timer)?

Right in the middle of the rack...the sensor and helix works..the helix temp goes up when I cover the sensor with my hand...The heat cable is not heating up at all..cool to the touch.

Maybe you have defective heat tape, this is one of the reasons I prefer heat rope less stuff to mess around with all you have to do is plug it up.

The helix only controls the heat(flexwatt cable ect). Is the green lite on? If the light is green it should be getting power to the heater. You can plug your heater in direct to see if it gets hot.
Hope that helps.

I plugged a small lamp into the power strip that my flexwtt was plugged into when I was having the same problem. The green light was on the Helix unit but the lamp was still off. Eventually I realized that the power strip itself was turned off. Also might want to make sure the power strip isn't bad.
