Went to the Philly zoo

I went to Philly this weekend and went to the zoo. They had a big reptile house. It was cool. They had fly river (pig nose) turtles, a huge alligator snapping turtle, some pyxis tortoises, and some babies they had hatched, some galaps, a gopherus aggazzi, and a poor pancake in a very, very small enclsoure. They had some other cool herps too, solomon island skinks, a king cobra, a pair of anacondas that were mating while we were there, some rare monitors.

It was pretty cool. I want to go back some time during week when it hopefully wouldn't be as crowded. It was hard to see everything because there were so many people. I was not impressed with a lot of the mammal enclosures though, some of them were extremely small. Most of the reptile enclosures seemed adequate. Some did not (like the pancake's enclosure).

one of the nicest reptile houses I have been to was last month at the St Louis zoo. there reptiles were house very nicely, clean and comfortable. the aldabs and galops were inside and a bit crowded but I think they go outside with warmer weather. it was cold when I was there. they had a fantastic breeding group of radiateds, some egyptians along with a ton of vipers if you like snakes they had tons. some nice turtles too.
