First of all i wanna thank markus jayne (i dunno if he frequents this forum or not) for the easy-to-follow info on his site http://www.ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding.html
my question is : Other than noticing a bulge, are there any ways to tell by looking/feeling etc. if a girl is becoming gravid?
Due to living situation changes, I have had this particular female in with a male pastel for considerable time, with no prior cooling or cycling so breeding didnt even occur to me as a possiblity. some weeks back i noticed 6 (easily countable)follicles, a blatant "glow before they go" period along with hugging the cooler end of the cage and waterbowl. She also is exhibiting the clumping/kinking when coiled. It is very possible that i missed ovulation since I could only attend to the critters personally once a week. As of now, she is refusing food and really does NOT look to be growing in diameter.
I am new to breeding balls, especially since another girl of mine dropped eggs (first clutch ever, now hatched) without me even noticing ovulation and or even increased girth prior to laying.
sigh i dont know if my rambling even makes sense but thanks for looking.
