More spoiled than I thought!

PHRatz May 14, 2007 08:48 AM

Yesterday evening after the pen was mowed DH was in the driveway washing his motorcycle, the turtles could see him out there because he was right next to the pen.
He came in the house & asked me if those turtles have been fed today, yes they were fed in the morning.
He said well one of them is hungry because she keeps looking at me like she wants something, can you bring her some food? I didn't think anyone was hungry but I did it.
So since they'd had a a couple of different types of worms for breakfast I cut up some fruit and put it on a turtle plate(a flat paver brick)
I took it out there & he pointed at Shell E I set the food in front of her. She wasn't hungry, she didn't want that food.

I scratched the back of her shell & she did the same dance the tortoise does when I scratch her shell. Cracked me up.
I said hey- she's spoiled rotten, she just wanted some attention, watch this! lol

This is the first time he's actually seen with his own eyes how interactive they can be with people. I think it really surprised him. He knows how the tortoise is but he's just not spent as much time with the turtles as he has with the tortoise.

They are so happy out in that pen. They get to bask, use the water whenever they want to, walk. They do a lot of walking early in the morning & late in the evening.
I'm so glad they finally have their place to stay!

Lol, reminds me of my spouse who often grumbles about the turtles but then will express some sort of concern.

The other day he saw a baby run off with a worm and he was like "hey, he's not sharing.....make him share!"

That's it exactly!! LOL!!!
Grumbling about them yet he gets that fabulous pen built for me. Grumbles yet OMG if one of them may be hungry woe to thee who did not distribute the food. LOL

My DH is starting a new job after 17 years with the last company. In less than 5 years we may actually be able to move to a better neighborhood. We don't like this one anymore, it's getting too crowded. There are several neighborhoods like this one that are on the outskirts of town so you get at least an acre of land. We'd want something like that.
I was talking about how we'd have to hire someone to build the tortoise a new home, we'd need a new pen.. we'd have to make sure a new place would be big enough.
Then I said ya know Hobo is in his natural native habitat, I'd hate to move him with us but you know.. we'd just have to. If we left him here who knows what new owners might do to him. DH is saying OH yeah of course!
I'm thinking... Mr. I don't care.. yeah right LOL!!!
