how big an enclosure does a Hogg island boa require?
The of thumb is to have at least one square foot of floor space per foot of snake. Hogg islands usually get 6ft or less so a 2X3 foot would be ok, and a 2X4 foot would be better. Remember to account for the snakes age/temperment also. If the snake is really young you may need to supply hide boxes to make sure it doesn't feel over exposed.
Some exceptions would be the really active snakes such as the racers. Its usually recommended to have 2 square foot per foot of them. Obviously, if you have an aboreal snake then the "rule of thumb" would have to be modified for that as well. I'm not sure about that category since I've never raised any.
