Field herping

fire_Flyny May 14, 2007 10:42 PM

I used to live in the suburbs of Miami fl but I never saw any wild snakes anywhere. I thought about going out and trying to find some but never did. So what states are good to go herping in? any new england states?

What state is best depends upon what you are looking for.
You should have been able to at least find water snakes and corn snakes down where you were at in Florida.

I believe there are water snakes up in New England. I've found them in western new york - when I was in new england (Rhode Island) I didn't find any, but I wasn't there to herp. I was there to work and didn't get out to herp.

If I was to pick a state to herp on a vacation - it probably would be Arizona after the massive rains they sometimes get.
