question about feeding cham in a huge cage

chuckrusso May 21, 2003 04:04 PM

hey, i have a baby veilded and a 3 month old panther, both are males. a friend was supposed to take the veilded but ended up not being able to, this happened after i paid for the panther.

so now i have 2 chames in a 4x2x2 cage till i get a 2nd sed of lights so i can split them up.

my question is how do i know the baby veilded is eating? this cage is huge and so far i have seen neither of them eat from it. but i have put 6 crickets in it but i cant find them anymore. i assume they got eaten, or just lost.

the veilded is going into a reptaium till i get money for a bigger cage. and the panther is stayin in the big screen cage. will the panther be able to find all of its food?

sorry for so many questions the last 4 or 5 days, i am a new chameleon owner and want to make sure nothing goes wrong with them

THe easiest way is to contain the food. Use a plastic deli container or a bowl (not clear in case he tries to shoot the bugs from the wrong side) and nestle or hang it in the plants where he can see the insects moving around. Some chams get concerned about hitting their tongues on the container, so use the widest one you can get. This also keeps crix from jumping out. Put a bit of fresh gutload in the container and remove uneaten insects at night.
