Hi all! Just wanted to get a take on what everyone else is doing with their juvies vs. adults. Currently my b/w is around 26-28" and has grown probably 11-12 or so inches since I got her (I think it's a "her"
at the beginnig of June. She eats like a pig and seems to be in a constant state of shed (good, clean sheds that once the skin breaks, take only a day or two). I am feeding her turkey meatballs that are fortified with Herptivite and Rep-Cal (1/2 tablespoon of each per pound of meat) and diced strawberries. I mix everything together then make little golf ball sized meatballs and freeze. She LOVES them!! Every morning, Monday-Friday she gets one of those (defrosted in the microwave for 25-30 seconds). I also offer fruit once or twice during the week, usually mangos or bananas (I've got to try more...) as well as crickets once or twice a week. Then on Saturdays and Sundays, she gets nothing but f/t mice (2-3 per day, depending on the size). She also has a UV light in her cage and if the weather is good I put her in an outside pen for unfiltered, natural sunlight. She seems to be doing really good and defecates every day.So my question is, what is everyone else doing, and at what age/size did you start cutting back the food. Right now she looks nice and fat until she poops and then she looks empty - basically, muscular and healthy, but not fat. I know at some point she will need to be cut back on feedings, so I'm curious to know what the owners of older/larger Tegus are doing as well as the growth rates of everyone's babies/juvies.
Thanks!
Billy
