pressure treated lumber?????

building outside cage and going to use pressure treated lumber coated with water based behr outdoor deck selant. im going to let it dry for 2 weeks before putting lizard in. not mant spots for him to come in conntact with the wood but would this be safe? i know they use chemcals on p t treated wood but it will be coated. i need a good stong long lasting outdoor wood anyother suggestions or what have others used im open to suggestions cannot get redwood here on east coast. thanks...

They use arsenic in treated lumber. I think most of the danger would be in consuming it or breathing in the fumes whilst burning it. If you are going to use some sort of wood sealant I wouldn't see the harm. Just don't let your critters chew on the wood and certainly don't burn it! Haha! Maybe you could use that new compo$ite decking in the areas that the monitor WOULD come in to contact with it. That would help make sure that they can't get splinters from it. I got a splinter from treated lumber while building my deck. It got infected really fast and was really REALLY gross. I didn't die though. : )
