dimpled eggs

dragonlady1954 Aug 15, 2003 08:31 AM

I had 23 out of 24 hatch in my first clutch almost 2 weeks ago. My question is that I have 4 eggs out of 9 in my second clutch that are dimpled. One dimpled yesterday but the other 3 dimpled almost a week ago. They are still soft to the touch but nothing seems to be happening with them! How long can they be dimpled and still hatch a healthy dragon??

How long have they been incubating (days)?

I've read time and time again that ugly dimpled eggs have hatched cute little dragons.
So, I guess the answer is "as long as it takes".

There have been several on the forum that have gotten too curious, or were given the wrong information and slit the egg. The babies that were inside died, they would have been fine if left alone.

Just make sure your substrate is moist and temps are correct to make sure that the environment isn't causing the dimpling.

They have been incubating for 77 days at temps between 81.9 and 84 degrees with humidity at 77% to 85%. My first clutch was in the same incubator at the same temps and we had all but one hatch and one little fellow that we had to put down I have read some of the posts you are referring to and I am going to leave them alone!! I was just wondering cause in the first clutch the baby hatched within 24-48 hours of dimpling.

Sometimes it can take days for them to actually hatch out
Good idea to leave them alone for a few more days
