not yet, im gonna give him a call soon, afraid to call and hear what happened, so sad to see the fish we had for years waste away like that, such beautiful african chichlids, guess its our fault, we just never thought there would be such a power outage, a few hours would have been fine, but it was out for a very long time, who knew 
i dont think he will set it up again if they did all indeed die, he was so upset last night, trying so hard to get oxygen into the water etc...sigh.. just never thought about it i guess....

well he had about 8 fish die, but everything else survived, they just got power back on about 20 mins ago, my mother stayed up all night long up until 20 mins ago, just taking water and dumping it back in, taking out water and dumping it back in, she also heated the aquarium water in a pot, put it in sealed containers and floated them in the aquarium to heat the water, all of it paid off as majority of the fish lived, its a 150 gallon tank, so there is quite a few fish in there, anyhow, hes going to get a generator, tried today but they are all sold out, of course... but at least hes heading to the fish shop to buy some emergency pumps etc. battery operated stuff in case another blackout hits today or before he can get a generator... thanks again for everyone suggestions and help, i really do appreciate it
