HerpGirl Aug 15, 2003 09:31 AM

ok, tell me if this is normal...
zephyr is abou stv-7.5 inches. i give him 2 bowls of food. the size of the bowls are about 3-3.5 inches across, one has endive and escarole in it and the other has collard and kale. he eats both of the bowls every day.
iggy is about 1 foot stv, 3 ft stt, he eats a plateful of food every day. i am using a paperplate but i want to get something like a small litter box to feed him. i dont know if i should give him more than this or not becuase he eats it all in like 5-7 minutes! everyday. lol. do normal igs eat this much??

Myka can eat a lot when she's in the right mood....for example, if I'm feeding her all fresh food from the garden she'll eat a heaping 6-8" plate full without stopping for a break, and then take some more later in the day. She ate all of this the other day, and I grew it all in my iguana garden!!

Wow solaris that is a yummy looking plate. I am thinking of starting my own ig garden also what kind of plants do you have in it?

Oh yeah, they do! After I switched mine over to the combo heat/UVB flood lamps, the increase in appetite was astounding! So ravenous are their appetites that I've maintained a garden of iggy greens the last 2 years, just so I don't have to run to the grocery store every other day!

And they'll eat just about anything if given the chance. You have to be careful here. I've given mine an occasional taste of chicken, hamburger, fries, etc etc, and they've taken just about anything I've given them samples of. But you have to stick to what's good for them. Dark leafy greens are the prime staple, with occasional fruit. An occasional calcium enhancement is good, too (I sprinkle powdered Tums tablets on their stuff once in a while).

This is the time of year that they eat a lot of food. Breeding season is right around the corner.
